All of you must have missed the atmosphere of Ramadan. The atmosphere of Ramadan is the natural Iman-boosting environment where we keep ourselves busy pleasing Allah and staying away from all the forbidden things and we race in doing deeds of righteousness. Our limbs automatically strive hard in Ramadan as we have more consciousness of Allah. And also as fasting automatically raises our conscious level and as this Month of Ramadan holds great value as the reward of doing good is greater in this blessed month.
We are all struggling with our Nafs and trying to be the best Muslims as we could be but sometimes to feel off is completely alright. Some may wonder we were doing so great in Ramadan & now our energy level and the desire to strive has lowered down. But let me tell you it is absolutely natural to feel this way, it is just that you just have to keep yourself consistent and keep asking Allah to firmly root your seeds so that you can continue doing your best and not feel to quit.
So, how can we maintain our Iman? Here are some tips to follow –
- Develop a relationship with Allah’s Book – We all must have planned to complete the Book of Allah in the month of Ramadan. The recitation of the Glorious Qur’an brings tranquility and peace to the heart. To maintain our Iman, what best action could be than connecting yourself with the blessed words of our Creator. We must continue to read & reflect upon the verses of Allah and implement it in our lives. If you want to read a Tafsir, start with Tafsir As-Sa’d that is recommended by the great scholars like Shaykh Salih Al-Fawzan. Remember the Sahabas did not move on the next verses until they have lived by it.
- Develop a strong relationship with Allah – To develop a strong relationship with Allah, our life must revolve around His commandments. The moment we adhere to the permissible and impermissible things, our Iman rejuvenates. We have to keep reminding ourselves about the real goal and intention behind all these things in order to not lose focus.
A quick tip- Just as you woke up for suhoor/sehri and prayed at least two rak’ahs, we should add this in our life on a daily basis. Imagine the next recommended actions after the 5 obligatory prayers is the night prayer.

- Keep Fasting – Since we all are in this lockdown situation, we should complete any missed fasts & follow up with the Shawwal fasts to earn the reward of 1 whole year of fasting.
- Do Astaghfar – The Lord who forgives in Ramadan is the same Lord who forgives outside Ramadan. No matter how big a sin you might have committed, Allah forgives all sins & accepts the repentance of His servants. There are many benefits of Istighfar i.e. it brings mercy, removes hardships, and opens doors of goodness. You will only find happiness & peace upon the remembrance of Allah.
- Invoke Allah to accepts your Ramadan– Allah accepts the call of His servants whenever they call upon Him. Unlike individuals, connection lines with Allah are always open. We should ask Allah to accepts all our good deeds and forgive us for our shortcomings. “Indeed Allah is the Hearer of our Supplications.”
Just as we recognized our weaknesses in Ramadan and we aim to get over them, we should work towards it with each passing day. Insha’Allah when you make efforts then Allah will definitely help you. “Allah (SWT) does not change the condition of people until they strive hard to change themselves.“ (Al-Qur’an 13:11)
